How in the heck do two people from Arizona and Alaska even meet? St. Lawrence University has a way of bringing people together, so through mutual friends and a little extra SLU magic, Madi and Kaden met in the late Fall of 2016. They went on their first date in January 2017 at Jake's on the Water and thereafter spent as much time as possible with one another. A month later, Kaden asked Madi to be his girlfriend in Montreal, Canada, under a cascade of bubbles. In May of 2017, Kaden graduated and their long distance relationship started.
In Summer of 2017, they decided it was time for their hometown dates! Kaden came to Sierra Vista, AZ for the first time and the couple spent time with Madi's family and friends. They hiked in the desert heat, relished in the artistic flare of Bisbee, and swam in Patagonia Lake, surrounded by saguaro cacti. As Kaden’s visit to Arizona came to a close, the couple jumped on a flight bound for Alaska! In AK, they "frolfed" the Weaver family course, spotted whale after whale in Seward, and zip-lined at the base of Denali. M&K said their goodbyes at the Anchorage Airport for the next 6 months while Kaden moved to Washington, D.C. and Madi headed to Cairns, Australia for a semester abroad!
Long distance continued upon Madi's return to St. Lawrence University for the next year and a half. Kaden often drove north to Canton, NY to visit Madi at their alma mater, and Madi was always on the first flight to the capital for her breaks. In the summer of 2018, M&K got a preview of what life would be like together after Madi’s upcoming graduation. Madi lived with Kaden in D.C. for the summer and together they enjoyed friends, concerts, new restaurants, and most importantly adopted Nova, their beloved, now 6 year-old pup!
After Madi's graduation in 2019, Madi officially moved to D.C. with Kaden. There, she worked at George Washington University Hospital as a physical therapy technician while Kaden was a software engineer at Orbit Logic. They spent their time cooking Indian food, playing soccer, and enjoying the D.C. city life. Shortly after the onset of the pandemic, they took a leap and decided to head West. The couple landed in Louisville, Colorado and got their first apartment to themselves. They fell in love with the Colorado way of life just in time for Madi to get into Physical Therapy school at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Time to move again!
In Flagstaff, M&K spent time with family, met new friends, and adopted their second pup, Olive!
On November 5th, 2023 Kaden proposed to Madi at Cathedral Rock in Sedona, AZ. Madi's younger sister, Maggie, was there to capture the special moment under the sunrise. Celebrations continued in December when Madi graduated from PT school!
What's next you ask? M&K plan to move to Colorado in late 2024 before it's time to party with you in Alaska for their wedding in June of 2025!
